Uniarts.fi is the University of the Arts Helsinki’s most important external communication channel. With an average of 300,000 pageviews per month, the site plays a key role in shaping the university’s public image and guiding users toward relevant content and services. My role has focused on creating a cohesive, accessible, and engaging digital presence for the university.
When the website was redesigned in 2018-19, I co-authored the initial concept and have since led on the long-term design evolution of the site. The project began with establishing the original art direction, where I defined the visual tone, main layout elements and helped to build a design system that reflects the creative spirit of the Uniarts Helsinki. This foundation guided the expansion of the website family, which I grew over the course of several years, to include several new websites, including a dedicated site for current students, the university’s brand guide and the university’s external events service. Each site was designed to serve a distinct audience and purpose while maintaining visual consistency with the main site. Moving the brand guide from an offline pdf-resource to an adaptable and accessible website, was a huge project and big step for the university.
Throughout the website family's lifecycle, I’ve maintained and evolved the shared Figma component library, ensuring design consistency and supporting efficient collaboration with developers. I’ve also implemented continuous design improvements based on accessibility reviews, refining contrast, interaction states, and navigation patterns to meet evolving standards.
In 2025, I led the main navigation redesign, a major UX initiative aimed at improving platform consistency and simplifying user journeys. This involved research, prototyping, and testing to deliver a scalable solution that supports future needs.
My work on Uniarts.fi reflects a long-term commitment to thoughtful design, accessibility, and adaptability in a dynamic digital environment.
